Kenya, 10/11/2021. The state of emergency has been declared in 29 counties in Kenya. Here, hardly any rain fell in the past 2 rainy seasons. This in combination with the consequences of the corona pandemic means that over 2 million Kenyans are facing acute food and water shortages. Children are at risk of malnutrition.
Life-saving measures must be taken urgently. There is global recognition that food security challenges can only be met when safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) are available in the poorest communities. To address this current drought crisis, ChildsLife has compiled a list of ten schools in Makueni and Kajiado provinces, in the affected area, that need support with the distribution of clean water and emergency food.
