In In the slums of Kenya, girls and women are hit hardest by poverty. When food is scarce, they are the last to be fed or receive nothing at all. They also attend school less often than boys.
For girls, the chance of a good future without poverty is therefore very limited. Specifically for girls from such extreme disadvantaged situations, ChildsLife offers scholarships for a training at the ChildsLife Vocational Centre. The scholarship gives them the opportunity to learn a trade, find a job or start their own business. The school offers various courses such as tailoring, business administration, electrical engineering, ICT, health and beauty and catering. In addition to the education, students receive life skills training, a practical and comprehensive course that helps students prepare for the job market, the business world and general life outside the slum.
